Immigration support for people aged sixteen or over coming to the UK for an eligible course with a licensed student sponsor.
We review the proposed course, education provider and Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies arrangements to assess the appropriate application.
Eligibility depends on the course, sponsorship, finances, English where applicable and immigration history. We assess these together before preparing the application.
Student permission is distinct from short-term English-language study or study as a visitor. We review the course and your wider plans so that the application fits the intended activity.
We coordinate immigration advice around the course, sponsorship and planned start date, including overseas applications and eligible applications made within the UK.
Review the course offer, sponsor, applicant’s circumstances and immigration history to identify the appropriate route.
Advise on the supporting information and coordinate relevant sponsorship, consent and family arrangements.
Assist with submission and the appropriate identity process, with advice on application and travel timing.
Review the permission and conditions, including arrival plans and the arrangements relevant to the course.
An in-country application is not available from every immigration category. We assess existing permission and the course timetable before advising on a switch or extension.
Application fees, healthcare charges where applicable and any available priority service are considered as part of the case assessment. A course start date does not guarantee a decision by that date.
Work rights depend on your course, sponsor and the conditions attached to your grant. Student permission does not provide unrestricted employment or business rights.
Seek advice before changing the planned activity or if the sponsor reports an interruption, withdrawal or early completion.
Dependant applications are restricted. They are generally available to qualifying government-sponsored students and qualifying postgraduate research students, subject to the relevant conditions.
Where the student qualifies to sponsor dependants, an eligible partner and dependent children may apply. The course, start date, relationship and each person’s circumstances require review.
An ordinary taught postgraduate course does not automatically allow new dependant applications. Existing dependant permission, transitional provisions and children born in the UK may need a separate assessment.
Each family member needs the appropriate application; a student’s extension does not automatically extend the family’s permission.
An extension may be possible where you remain eligible and the new or continuing study meets the relevant rules. We assess academic progression, study limits, sponsorship and any exceptions in the context of your history.
A new course, education provider or change to your existing studies may require new sponsorship and a fresh application. We assess the proposed change before you proceed.
We also review earlier Tier 4 permission where relevant, rather than assuming that the conditions of a previous grant apply to a new application.
Eligible graduates may be able to move to the Graduate route, or qualify for another route such as Skilled Worker. Neither option is automatic; the course, sponsor, timing and individual eligibility must be assessed.
This study route does not lead directly to settlement. We can assess the full immigration history and longer-term plans, including any relevant separate basis for settlement.
British citizenship has its own status, residence, absence, language, good-character and other conditions. Study permission does not confer settlement or citizenship.
Support for children aged four to seventeen studying with a licensed Child Student sponsor, including the school, consent and living arrangements.
We assess the proposed school, course and sponsorship alongside the child’s age and education plans.
The application must reflect suitable living and care arrangements and the required parental or legal-guardian consent. We review the family’s circumstances together.
For applicants aged sixteen or seventeen, the appropriate route depends on the course and sponsor. We can assess whether Child Student or Student permission is suitable. Child Student permission is for independent education, rather than attendance at a state-funded school.

The child’s course and living arrangements must remain appropriate to the permission granted. We can review changes involving the school, boarding, guardianship or the adult responsible for the child.
Seek advice before changing the planned activity or if the sponsor reports an interruption, withdrawal or early completion.
An eligible parent of a Child Student aged four to eleven may be able to apply under the separate Parent of a Child Student route. This is not automatic permission for the whole family.
Child Student permission does not provide a dependant route for partners or children. Other relatives need their own appropriate immigration permission.
We can assess the child’s living arrangements and any proposed accompanying parent application together. The parent route has its own restrictions, including on work and study, and normally permits only one accompanying parent.
Guardianship or school arrangements do not themselves grant a parent or carer immigration permission.
A further Child Student application may be possible for continued eligible schooling. We assess the child’s age, course, sponsorship and care arrangements, including whether a move to Student permission is appropriate.
A new course, education provider or change to your existing studies may require new sponsorship and a fresh application. We assess the proposed change before you proceed.
We also review earlier Tier 4 permission where relevant, rather than assuming that the conditions of a previous grant apply to a new application.
We can advise on the next stage of education and the appropriate immigration route as the child grows older. Child Student permission does not by itself qualify someone for the Graduate route.
