What is the Global Talent Visa?

The Global Talent Visa is for individuals recognised as leaders or emerging leaders in academia, research, arts and culture, or digital technology. It replaced the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) visa and does not require a job offer or sponsorship — giving you complete flexibility to work, freelance, or start a business in the UK.

Endorsement

You must be endorsed by one of the approved endorsing bodies: UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the Royal Society, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the British Academy, Tech Nation (for digital technology), or Arts Council England. Alternatively, if you hold a prestigious prize (such as a Nobel Prize, Fields Medal, or BAFTA), you may qualify without endorsement.

Key Requirements

Exceptional Talent — Recognised as a leader in your field (fast-track to settlement in 3 years).

Exceptional Promise — Recognised as an emerging leader (settlement in 5 years).

No minimum salary, no English language requirement, and no financial maintenance requirement.

Duration and Settlement

Initially granted for up to 5 years, extendable. Leads to settlement (ILR) after 3 years (Exceptional Talent) or 5 years (Exceptional Promise).
